You know you can trust Unilag. On Day 2, there were more students trooping to Afe Babalola Hall to watch their friends compete and generally, to be a part of this exciting time. Who wanted to hear about it secondhand when they could witness it firsthand? Definitely not this vibrant university.

From the performances, to catwalks by the young modeling contestants, to the fashion design showcasing, the crowd was ecstatic and the energy was to the roof!

But there was more; there is always more.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange, FCMB and two Social Media Influencers facilitated the Masterclass and introduced the students to a new and exciting outlook to life.

Mr. Abimbola Babalola, the Head of Market Surveillance, Nigerian Stock Exchange spurred the interests of the young adults into investing. He spoke about why it was important to start investing early and create a financially comfortable future. “It is never too early to learn about investing in the Nigerian Stock Exchange and we want young adults like you to get involved. That way, you will be making strategic decisions about your future.” He said.

FCMB’s Micheal Nwoseh spoke about harnessing talent in the marketplace. He applied balance to the question of doing what you love and loving what you do.

“It is important that what you are good at is what pays well and is also what you love. That way, you can be sure that you would not get frustrated by lack of funds or lack of interest in self-development at your chosen field.” He said.

While the youths noted these revolutionary ideas, they were about to get more. Social media influencers, Pamilerin Adegoke (@thepamilerin) and Paul Anderson (@LazyWrita) shared about identity creation in the social media space.

Paul Anderson has 53,000 plus followers on Instagram and shared this. “I never planned to be a social media influencer even though I had a massive following on Twitter. One day, I got a call from someone asking me how much it will cost for me to make a tweet. There and then, my life changed. I realized I could make a living off this thing. I read more, took online courses, and today, I am here.”

Pamilerin Adegoke has 100,000 followers on Instagram and the number keeps growing.

At the end of day 3, the finalists from UNILAG were picked. They included, Emmanuella Osa-alile and Arowolo Sharon as performing artistes; Yahaya Taofiq and Uzoma Salvation in the Designer Category; and Efemena Sharon Yesioh, Meju Jude Chibueze in the modeling category.
